SEND
At The Langley Heritage Primary (TLHP), we work tirelessly to ensure that all of our children will achieve highly at school and learn the skills required to make a strong transition to adulthood.
We firmly believe that every child deserves the support needed to fulfil their potential and realise their ambitions. Children may present with Special Educational Needs (SEN) at various stages of their development, and it is our job to provide tailored support to help them thrive.
Our dedicated Inclusion Team collaborates closely with all members of the school community and parents to ensure each child receives the best possible academic and emotional support. We personalise learning, ensuring that High-quality teaching and the development of experiences through our Museum Learning curriculum are truly at the heart of everything we do. Additionally, we further enhance our approach with targeted interventions and expert external advice when necessary.
Considerable thought and planning go into addressing the diverse needs of children with SEN.
We encourage you to explore the documents listed below, which detail our practices and commitment to fostering an inclusive environment at TLHP.

The Inclusion Team
The Inclusion Team, led by Marta Cano as Inclusion Lead, consists of Becky Sturgess (Inclusion Teacher) and Dereece Green (Behaviour Mentor). They are dedicated to addressing the diverse needs of our children and are always on hand to provide support. The team meets regularly with year groups to discuss individual children's requirements, whether related to behavioural issues, special educational needs (SEN), English as an additional language (EAL) learners, fine and gross motor skills, literacy challenges, and specific learning difficulties.
Additionally, they collaborate consistently with the Pastoral Team, comprising Tracey and Jo, as well as Place2Be, to ensure that essential information is shared and maintained effectively. For further information, please refer to the Wellbeing section.
Areas of Regulation
Areas of Regulation have been introduced as a whole school approach to enhance student mindfulness and social awareness. This initiative not only benefits our children but also helps staff and parents understand the diverse needs of our children, fostering empathy rather than frustration during challenging situations. We aim to equip children with the skills needed to learn to self-regulate and help them recognise their emotional states as represented by different colours and teach them the strategies to either change their zone or effectively remain within it.
Provision Map
At TLHP, we currently utilise a web-based tool called Provision Map (Edukey) to effectively track the progress of all children listed on our SEND Register. This tool supports us by providing a range of services, and promotes effective communication between parents and the school, so it is essential that you have access if your child is part of our SEND Register.
Through this programme, we create our children's Individual Education Plans (IEPs), it also allows us to track data and progress, record targeted interventions across the school, evaluate pupil performance and interventions, highlight the next steps for children, and store important documents.
Our Inclusion Lead engages in one-to-one meetings with all teachers to collaboratively plan, select, and assign relevant targets tailored to address the diverse needs of our children. These targets encompass the wide range of needs of our children, maintaining the focus on both academic and personal development.
